The Dutch tenor Sander de Jong began singing at the Martini- and Roder Boys Choir where he, first as a boy soprano and later as a tenor, found his love for singing.
He graduated his Bachelors at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying with Prof. Pierre Mak and subsequently his Masters at the Hochschule für Musik Hamburg with Prof. Jörn Dopfer. He took part in Masterclasses with artists such as Camilla Nylund, Helmut Deutsch, Marius Vlad, Michaela Schuster and Alexander Oliver.
During the 2020/2021 and the 2021/2022 season Sander was part of the renowned Operastudio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf/Duisburg).
The young tenor had guest engagements at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Reisopera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Wuppertal, Theater Kiel, Wadopera Nederland and the Schlossfestepiele Wernigerode.
Here he sang a multitude of roles including Remendado in Bizets Carmen, Oronte in Händels Alcina, Mercure in Offenbachs Orphée aux Enfers, Gastone in Verdis Traviata, Normanno in Donizettis Lucia di Lammermoor, Erster Geharnischter/Erster Priester in Mozarts Zauberflöte. Harry Frommermann in Comedian Harmonist in Concert, Der Junge in Da Fallas Meister Pedros Puppenspiel and Erster Richter in Korngolds Das Wunder der Heliane.
In the 2024/2025 season Sander will make his debut at Opera Compact where he will sing Goro in Puccinis Madame Butterfly.
Furthermore he will return to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein where he will sing the role of Der Kuli in Zemlinskys Der Kreidekreis. Sander will also return to the Nederlandse Reisopera where he will sing the role of Scaramuccio in Strauss his Ariadne auf Naxos. At the Wadopera Nederland he will sing the role of Steuermann in Wagners Der fliegende Holländer.
